Course Overview
This workshop is geared toward providing a clear change management process and some tools and principles that can support managers, and other change facilitators to initiate and sustain change processes. The pre-work will provide the models, theories and ideas that support this course, and the virtual session will concentrate on practical activities that help to consolidate this learning.
Duration: 3-hour Live Virtual session on Zoom and some supplementary pre and post work.
This virtual workshop is a blended approach with a 3-hour virtual session on Zoom and some supplementary pre and post work.
The virtual session will run from 9.30 a.m. – 13.00 p.m. with a 30-minute break. The pre and post work will be made available via email or through the JCS LMS. It is required that the pre-work be completed prior to attending the programme.
Participants:
This course is designed for managers or others within the business who need to deal with change initiatives and wish to enhance their knowledge and skills in change management.
Summary:

We will cover:
- Defining Organisational Change
- The Change Process Model
- Kotter’s 8 Step Change Management Model
- Applying the steps to systematic planning
- Managing people through change
- Identifying stakeholders in a change management context
- Monitoring the progress of the change
- Consolidating the change and making it stick
Through the pre-work and the virtual session participants will be able to:
- Understand the 8 steps of Kotters approach to change management and its connection with the Change process model.
- Explore ways of implementing the planning steps of the model within a real-time change project.
- Identify the challenges of supporting people through change and the tools and techniques available to the change agent.
- Recognise ways to monitor and consolidate a change within the business, using real-time change situations.
- Practise using the skills, tools and techniques of the Kotter 8 step model and its impact on a real-time change project.
The Post-Activity will allow participants to:
- Apply Kotter’s 8 Step model to a real change situation within the business and identify its strengths and where it needs to be adapted to meet the needs of the Council in the change process.
- Prepare a reflective review that highlights these areas.
- Assess own strengths in the change management process and create a personal development plan that highlights 3 areas of change management that you want to develop further.
