Blended Training - Presentation Skills

Course Overview

This will include recognising the importance of a clear and concise structure, preparing, and using visual aids effectively and identifying that the person presenting is the ‘best’ visual aid. The pre-work will provide the models, theories and ideas that support this course, and the virtual session will concentrate on practical activities that help to consolidate this learning.

 

 

 

 

This virtual workshop is delivered as blended training with a 3-hour virtual session on Zoom and some supplementary pre and post work.

The virtual session will run from 9.30 a.m. – 13.00 p.m. with a 30-minute break. The pre and post work will be made available on email or via JCS LMS. It is a requirement that the pre-work be completed prior to attending the programme.

This course is designed for anyone who needs to prepare and deliver presentations and speak in public.

    • The 3 levels of presenting
    • Getting your nerves to work for you
    • Creating positive self-talk

Through the pre-work and the virtual sessions participants will be able to:

  • Identify a clear and concise presentation structure using the tools and techniques discussed.
  • Understand the importance of working with the audience to make the presentation memorable and create a call for action.
  • Explore a range of visual aids and recognise how to make them support the delivery of the presentation.
  • Develop techniques to deal with nerves and challenging individuals and/or groups.
  • Practise the skills and techniques of the effective presenter and identify personal strengths and areas to develop further.

The Post-Activity will allow participants to:

  • Prepare a 15-minute presentation using the tools, techniques and skills discussed during the workshop.
  • Deliver and record the 15-minute presentation to the identified audience and self-assess your performance against the given checklist. Ask your audience for feedback or show the recording to either the trainer or someone within the business who will be prepared to provide you with feedback against the given criteria.
  • Using the feedback received, prepare a 3-point action plan to continue to develop your presentation and public speaking skill set.
