Blended Training - Train The Trainer

Course Overview

This virtual course will focus on skills transfer techniques rather than simple presentation skills and offers a structured approach to designing and delivering training sessions. The pre-work will provide the models, theories and ideas that support this course, and the virtual sessions will concentrate on practical activities that help to consolidate this learning.

 

 

 

 

Duration:2 x 3-hour Live Virtual session on Zoom and some supplementary pre and post work.

This virtual workshop is delivered as blended training with two 3-hour virtual session on Zoom (Part 1 & Part 2) and some supplementary pre and post work.

Each virtual session will run from 9.30 a.m. – 13.00 p.m. with a 30-minute break and there will be approximately one week between Parts 1 and 2 where an interim activity will be completed. The pre and post work will be made available on email or JCS LMS.

It is required that the pre-work be completed prior to attending the programme.

Participants.

Suitable for all new trainers or existing trainers who wish to develop their design and delivery skills. It is appropriate for those who will be training in a face-to-face situation or those who will be doing so on-line.

N.B. It does not cover the intricacies of MS Teams or Zoom functionality.

Through the pre-work and the virtual sessions participants will be able to:

  • Identify a clear and simple process for assessing what individuals need to do differently to increase their effectiveness or efficiency.
  • Recognise the value of writing clear learning objectives, intended to guide the learner towards meeting identified learning needs.
  • Explore a range of learning activities that can be included in training sessions for meeting learning needs.
  • Understand and practise the four basic skills needed by a trainer in delivering clear and effective sessions.
  • Practice using several techniques for increasing personal presence and engagement when delivering training sessions.
  • Consider the 4 levels of evaluation suggested by Kirkpatrick and identify a clear plan for making these practical and insightful in the workplace.

The Post-Activity will allow participants to:

  • Deliver a 15-minute recorded training session that includes the structure, tools and techniques as described during the course.
  • Get some feedback from the delegates using the feedback criteria provided and prepare an action plan using the TTT pro-forma to share with your line manager.
